Description

HALO™ Bluetooth® pH/°C electrode with flat tip is a wireless pH sensor for direct surface measurements. Built with Bluetooth® Smart technology (Bluetooth® 4.0), low-temperature glass and an integrated temperature sensor, it combines an open junction with a silver-free Viscolene hard-gel electrolyte between sample and internal double Ag/AgCl reference. The flat glass tip is especially suited to readings on skin, leather and in Petri dishes with bacterial cultures. Measurement data are sent to the free Hanna Lab App on a paired smart device or to the edge® blu pH meter. One-press connect establishes a wireless link over up to 10 m, while a blue Halo LED shows that the electrode is active and transmitting. Internal storage of calibration data means no recalibration is required when the paired device is changed, and the built-in temperature sensor provides automatic temperature compensation. From manufacturer Hanna Instruments, the electrode is supplied with storage solution, cleaning solution, pH 7,01 and pH 4,01 buffers, CR2032 battery, quality certificate and instruction manual. Overall length is 114 mm, glass body length 50 mm and outer diameter 12 mm; recommended use is 0 to 50 °C with a pH range of 0 to 12 and about 500 hours of battery life.

Questions about HALO® Wireless pH Meter for Flat Surface Measurement

What is this article?

HALO® Wireless pH Meter for Flat Surface Measurement is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Hanna Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH electrodes & sensors, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
