Description

Hose insulation (48 mm) is a metre-sold thermal sleeve with 48 mm internal width for fabric hose of 1 1/2" internal width in laboratory and process temperature-control lines. It covers larger flexible hoses to limit unwanted heat gain or loss along the run and to improve handling comfort around hot or cold media. Supplied per metre, the insulation can be cut and fitted to the required circuit length on baths, thermostats and external loops. Net weight is 0,200 kg per metre, keeping the added mass moderate for bench or plant installations. This accessory from manufacturer Julabo addresses setups that use 1 1/2" fabric hose and need a matching insulating cover without changing the hose itself. It fits research, pilot-plant and industrial laboratory environments where stable transfer temperatures and tidy hose routing are required. Use it wherever fabric temperature-control hose must be insulated over custom distances while remaining easy to replace or extend.

This article is part of PVC, PTFE & other tubing, in Tubing, hoses & fittings.

What is this article?

Insulation, 48 mm inner dia. for reinforced tubing 1 1/2'' inner dia., per is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Julabo for laboratory use. It sits in PVC, PTFE & other tubing, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

PVC is the flexible everyday tube for water and mild aqueous liquids. PTFE is the stiff, almost inert tube for solvents. Other polymers sit between them. The bore, the wall and the chemical resistance are the specification, and the tube is cut to length.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
