Description

LabSen 241-6 pH electrode is a semi-micro glass electrode engineered for small sample volumes from 200 µl and for use in thin test tubes. Built with patented Swiss sensor technology and materials from manufacturer APERA Instruments, it employs a Long Life reference system of glass tube, AgCl and reference silver wire; cotton packing at the top of the thin glass tube prevents reaction between AgCl and electrolyte during temperature changes, improving reference stability and extending service life. The LabSen S-type semi-micro glass membrane is 100 mm long with a 6 mm diameter and low membrane resistance, supporting measurements of volumes ≥0,2 ml at temperatures up to 100 °C. Blue gel electrolyte does not flow and avoids air-bubble formation. A BNC connector ensures compatibility with common laboratory pH meters; no temperature sensor is integrated, so automatic temperature compensation requires a separate probe or manual entry. Measuring range is 0–14 pH with 3M KCl electrolyte and ceramic diaphragm. Overall electrode dimensions are Ø12×150 mm, measuring tip Ø6×100 mm, lead-free glass shaft and Ø3 mm × 1 m cable. Supplied as a single unit.

What is this article?

LabSen 241-6 pH Electrode for Small Sample Volumes (> 200µl) is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH electrodes & sensors, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
