Description
LabSen 231 pH electrode is a specialised sensor for emulsions, suspensions, wastewater and samples that contain protein or sulphide. Built with patented Swiss sensor technology and materials from manufacturer APERA Instruments, it combines a two-pore diaphragm structure with polymer electrolyte that remains highly pressure-resistant and helps stop solids from settling and clogging the measuring element. The long-life reference system uses a glass tube, AgCl and a reference silver wire; cotton at the top of the slender tube limits reaction between AgCl and electrolyte during temperature changes, improving reference stability and extending electrode life. A hemispherical type-S glass membrane resists ordinary impacts far better than conventional bulb membranes and can be used in high-temperature samples up to 80 °C. The lead-free glass shaft measures Ø12 × 120 mm. Polymer electrolyte contacts the sample directly without diaphragm blockage and supports anti-pressure capacity up to 6 bar, making the electrode well suited to suspension and wastewater work. Connection is BNC, compatible with meters such as PH850, PC850, PH8500, PC8500, PH700 and related models. No temperature sensor is integrated; automatic compensation needs a separate probe or manual temperature entry. Measuring range is 0–14 pH; storage solution is 3M KCl. Supplied as 1 piece.

What is this article?
LabSen®231 Combination pH Electrode for Wastewater, Suspension, and is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH electrodes & sensors, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.
A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.
A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
