Used together with immersion bottles or bombs, the reel allows controlled lowering and retrieval to the required depth in shafts, wells and tanks. When flammable or easily ignitable liquids are sampled, electrically conductive hand cable reels, if necessary with an earthing cable, must be used, and immersion bottles must be made of non-sparking metal.
