Description

VitraPOR® micro filter candle with a diameter of 13 mm, porosity 0 and height of 25 mm is a cylindrical filtration element manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3. The candle incorporates a central bore of 8,0 mm and is intended for laboratory-scale solid–liquid separations, gas sparging or sample clarification. Porosity grade 0 provides a coarse filtration characteristic suitable for retaining larger particles while maintaining practical flow rates. Produced by ROBU - Stereon, the component offers the thermal and chemical resistance typical of borosilicate 3.3 glass, allowing use with a wide range of aqueous and organic media. Its compact cylindrical geometry facilitates mounting in custom holders, micro-reactors or small-volume filtration assemblies. The open-pore structure supports both vacuum and pressure-driven processes. Ideal for preparative chemistry, environmental sample work-up and materials research where reusable, inert glass filter media are preferred over disposable polymer membranes. Each unit is supplied as a single piece ready for integration into existing laboratory setups.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Micro-Filter Candle-blanks, Ø 13 mm, Por. 0, H 25 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
