Description

VitraPOR® micro filter candle is a cylindrical filtration element manufactured from borosilicate 3.3 glass. It has an outer diameter of 6 mm, porosity grade 5, height of 15 mm and a central bore of Ø 2 mm. This compact micro filter candle supports precise laboratory filtration of liquids or gases at small scale. The defined porosity 5 structure enables controlled particle retention in analytical and preparative workflows. Available as a pack of 5 pieces from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, the candles fit micro-scale apparatus where space and flow path are limited. Borosilicate 3.3 construction forms the porous body, providing the chemical and thermal characteristics expected of laboratory glass frits. The cylindrical geometry with axial bore allows straightforward mounting or connection in filtration assemblies. These dimensions and porosity make the item suitable for routine sample clarification, solvent filtration or gas sparging steps that require a small frit element. The product is supplied ready for integration into existing lab setups without further modification of the stated geometry.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

Questions about Micro-Filter Candle-blanks, Ø 6 mm, Por. 5, H 15 mm

What is this article?

Micro-Filter Candle-blanks, Ø 6 mm, Por. 5, H 15 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
