Description

Nalgene™ volumetric flasks in polypropylene copolymer (PPCO), Class B, are precision laboratory vessels with a nominal capacity of 250 ml for preparing and measuring standard solutions. Calibrated both to contain and to deliver at 20 °C, they meet ASTM E 288 and ISO 384 Class B tolerances for consistent quality and dependability in routine volumetric work. Each flask combines a narrow mouth with clear graduation and a 20 mm screw closure that helps keep contents secure during mixing and handling of aqueous solutions and many laboratory reagents. With a height of 8,74 in. and a stated error limit of ± 0,24 ml, the geometry is suited to analytical, quality-control and teaching laboratories. Break-resistant PPCO construction offers chemical resistance and safer handling than glass, and the flasks are autoclavable, although autoclaving can affect volumetric accuracy. Supplied in a pack of 12 pieces from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics, these Class B polypropylene volumetric flasks support everyday volume preparation wherever Class B performance is specified.

This article is part of Volumetric flasks, in Volumetric glassware.

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Class B Polypropylene Copolymer Volumetric Flasks with is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Volumetric flasks, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.

A volumetric flask is calibrated to contain one volume at a reference temperature, with a single mark on a narrow neck. Class A is the tight tolerance. It is not a storage bottle and it is not for heating. The stopper is part of the calibrated article.

Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
