Description

Nalgene™ volumetric flasks in polypropylene copolymer (PPCO), Class B, are narrow-mouth laboratory flasks calibrated both to contain and to deliver at 20 °C. The 500 ml nominal capacity is specified with a Class B tolerance of ± 0,40 ml and meets the tolerance requirements of ASTM E 288 and ISO 384, supporting reliable routine volumetric work. Each flask is graduated, fitted with a 24 mm screw closure and stands 27,9 cm high, combining clear volume indication with a secure seal for preparation, dilution and transfer steps. PPCO construction offers a lightweight, breakage-resistant alternative to glass for many aqueous and mild laboratory media. The vessels are autoclavable, although autoclaving can affect volumetric accuracy and should be taken into account when planning reuse. Supplied as a case of eight from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics, these Class B PPCO flasks suit general analytical, teaching and quality-control applications where consistent Class B performance and durable polymer handling are required.

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Class B Polypropylene Copolymer Volumetric Flasks with is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Volumetric flasks, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.

A volumetric flask is calibrated to contain one volume at a reference temperature, with a single mark on a narrow neck. Class A is the tight tolerance. It is not a storage bottle and it is not for heating. The stopper is part of the calibrated article.

Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
