Description
Nalgene™ round LDPE carboys with spigot are built for collecting and dispensing distilled water, acids and reagents at larger laboratory or process volumes. The opaque white body is made from low-density polyethylene (LDPE) with a nominal capacity of 50 l (13 gal) and a moulded-in spigot for controlled release. Permanent graduations marked in 5-litre and 1-gallon increments help operators monitor content levels without transferring liquid to a separate measuring vessel.
This article is part of Canisters & jerrycans, in Bottles & containers.
The 64 mm neck inner diameter is fitted with an 83 B polypropylene closure and thermoplastic elastomer gasket for secure containment. Integral shoulder handles assist movement of the filled carboy, and height with closure reaches 678 mm. Supplied as a single unit from Thermo Scientific, this round carboy is not autoclavable. Combining LDPE durability, light-opaque white colour and an integrated spigot, it is well suited to bulk reagent holding, distilled-water distribution and other wet-lab tasks that require repeated, controlled dispensing from a high-capacity reservoir.

Questions about Nalgene™ LDPE, Round Carboy with Spigot
What is this article?
Nalgene™ LDPE, Round Carboy with Spigot is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Canisters & jerrycans, inside Bottles & containers, in Labware.
A canister or jerrycan holds litres, not millilitres, and it is shaped to be carried and to pour. The material has to survive the liquid for the whole time the can sits in the store.
A laboratory bottle is a closed container with a stated volume and a neck that takes a cap, a stopper or a dispenser. Borosilicate glass is the choice when the liquid is a solvent, or when the bottle will be heated or autoclaved. Polyethylene and polypropylene are the choice when the bottle must not shatter, or when hydrofluoric acid would attack glass. A narrow mouth pours. A wide mouth is for powders and for reaching the bottom. Laboratory ware of this kind is indexed under ISO laboratory glassware. Traceable volume sits with the BIPM and NIST Physical Measurement.
