Description

Nalgene™ phthalate-free PVC tubing is clear, flexible laboratory tubing produced from high-quality resins and orthophthalate-free plasticisers to support purity-critical fluid paths. Supplied as one 15 m (50 ft) length, this size provides a 6,4 mm inner diameter, 9,5 mm outer diameter and 1,6 mm wall thickness for reliable everyday transfer, sampling and instrument connections. The tubing is formulated to laboratory standards and aligns with FDA CFR21 food-packaging requirements plus USP VI, cytotoxicity, REACH, latex-free, RoHS and California Proposition 65 expectations. Available from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics, the hose is autoclavable and compatible with gas or chemical sterilisation. Mechanical behaviour includes Durometer 60 (A) hardness and a bend radius of four times the outer diameter for routing without excessive kinking. Maximum pressure is 30 psig at 23 °C and 15 psig at 51 °C; maximum operating temperature reaches 71 °C, while the vacuum rating remains very low—suited to open or low-vacuum laboratory setups needing phthalate-free PVC performance.

This article is part of PVC, PTFE & other tubing, in Tubing, hoses & fittings.

Questions about Nalgene™ Non-Phthalate PVC Tubing

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Non-Phthalate PVC Tubing is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in PVC, PTFE & other tubing, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

PVC is the flexible everyday tube for water and mild aqueous liquids. PTFE is the stiff, almost inert tube for solvents. Other polymers sit between them. The bore, the wall and the chemical resistance are the specification, and the tube is cut to length.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
