Description

Nalgene™ phthalate-free PVC tubing is transparent laboratory-quality flexible hose built from high-grade resins and orthophthalate-free plasticisers for controlled fluid transfer. This 15 m roll combines a 6,4 mm inner diameter with an 11,1 mm outer diameter and a thicker 2,4 mm wall, offering added robustness where higher working pressure or mechanical protection is useful. The product is positioned for purity and quality in lab environments and meets FDA CFR21 food-packaging requirements together with USP VI, cytotoxicity, REACH, latex-free, RoHS and California Proposition 65 standards. From manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics, each unit is one continuous 50 ft tubing piece that can be sterilised by autoclave, gas or chemical methods. Hardness is Durometer 60 (A), and the recommended bend radius is four times the outer diameter. Maximum pressure ratings are 40 psig at 23 °C and 20 psig at 51 °C, with a maximum operating temperature of 71 °C and a very low vacuum level—well matched to general laboratory, process and equipment interconnection duties needing phthalate-free PVC.

This article is part of PVC, PTFE & other tubing, in Tubing, hoses & fittings.

Questions about Nalgene™ Non-Phthalate PVC Tubing

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Non-Phthalate PVC Tubing is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in PVC, PTFE & other tubing, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

PVC is the flexible everyday tube for water and mild aqueous liquids. PTFE is the stiff, almost inert tube for solvents. Other polymers sit between them. The bore, the wall and the chemical resistance are the specification, and the tube is cut to length.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
