Description

Nalgene™ phthalate-free PVC vacuum tubing is thick-walled polyvinyl chloride tubing engineered for continuous full-vacuum use at 760 mm Hg under room-temperature conditions. The tubing features a 6,4 mm inner diameter, 15,9 mm outer diameter and 4,8 mm wall thickness in a convenient 15 m roll, providing robust connections for laboratory vacuum systems. Produced from premium resins without orthophthalate plasticisers, it complies with FDA CFR21 food-contact packaging requirements, USP Class VI, cytotoxicity testing, REACH, latex-free status, RoHS and California Proposition 65. Hardness is Shore A 60 with flexibility rated at four times the outer diameter. Available from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics, this grade tolerates up to 56 psig at 23 °C and 28 psig at 51 °C, with a maximum operating temperature of 71 °C. Autoclave, gas and chemical sterilisation methods are supported, enabling repeated use in research, process and analytical environments where phthalate-free vacuum lines are required. The thick wall construction maintains dimensional stability under vacuum while remaining flexible for routine bench and instrument setups.

This article is part of PVC, PTFE & other tubing, in Tubing, hoses & fittings.

Questions about Nalgene™ Non-Phthalate PVC VacuumTubing

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Non-Phthalate PVC VacuumTubing is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in PVC, PTFE & other tubing, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

PVC is the flexible everyday tube for water and mild aqueous liquids. PTFE is the stiff, almost inert tube for solvents. Other polymers sit between them. The bore, the wall and the chemical resistance are the specification, and the tube is cut to length.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
