Description

Nalgene™ Pharma-Grade Platinum-Cured Silicone Tubing is translucent, high-purity flexible tubing built for consistent, accurate fluid transfer across pharmaceutical, laboratory and biotechnology workflows. This size combines a 3/8 in inner diameter with a 5/8 in outer diameter and a 3,2 mm wall thickness in platinum-cured silicone. The tubing is autoclavable, hardness-rated Durometer 50 (A), specified for a bend radius of 4× outer diameter and supports a maximum pressure of 14 psig at 23 °C. Relevant conformity statements include USP <87> cytotoxicity (agar diffusion and MEM elution), USP <88> Class VI, USP <661> physicochemical tests, ISO 10993-3 bacterial mutagenicity (Ames assay), ISO 10993-4 hemolysis direct contact and EP 3.1.9 silicone elastomer for pharmaceutical use. Available as a 50 ft length from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics, it suits demanding clean-process and research fluid lines where purity, flexibility and pressure capability must remain stable under routine handling and sterilization.

This article is part of Silicone tubing, in Tubing, hoses & fittings.

Questions about Nalgene™ Pharma-Grade Platinum-Cured Silicone Tubing

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Pharma-Grade Platinum-Cured Silicone Tubing is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Silicone tubing, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

Silicone tubing stays flexible across a wide temperature range and survives repeated autoclaving, which is why peristaltic pumps and media lines use it. It is not the choice for strong solvents, which migrate into the wall.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
