Description

Nalgene™ autoclavable polypropylene carboy with spigot, 20 l, is a robust laboratory vessel for long-term storage and controlled dispensing of distilled water, nutrient media and other aqueous solutions. Made from chemically resistant polypropylene, the carboy combines durability with practical handling features for routine lab workflows. A polypropylene closure with thermoplastic elastomer gasket (size 83B) seals the wide neck (inner diameter 64 mm), while the outer diameter of 286 mm and overall height with closure of 528 mm give a stable footprint on the bench or in storage. Permanent graduations in 5-litre and 1-gallon steps support quick volume checks. Integrated shoulder handles and a moulded-in spigot simplify lifting, transport and gravity dispensing without extra fittings. Supplied as a single unit within a case of four from manufacturer Thermo Scientific – Laboratory Plastics, this autoclavable Ballonflasche-style carboy suits media preparation, buffer storage and general liquid handling where chemical resistance and repeated sterilisation cycles are required.

Questions about Nalgene™ Polypropylene, Carboy with Spigot

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Polypropylene, Carboy with Spigot is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Canisters & jerrycans, inside Bottles & containers, in Labware.

A canister or jerrycan holds litres, not millilitres, and it is shaped to be carried and to pour. The material has to survive the liquid for the whole time the can sits in the store.

A laboratory bottle is a closed container with a stated volume and a neck that takes a cap, a stopper or a dispenser. Borosilicate glass is the choice when the liquid is a solvent, or when the bottle will be heated or autoclaved. Polyethylene and polypropylene are the choice when the bottle must not shatter, or when hydrofluoric acid would attack glass. A narrow mouth pours. A wide mouth is for powders and for reaching the bottom. Laboratory ware of this kind is indexed under ISO laboratory glassware. Traceable volume sits with the BIPM and NIST Physical Measurement.
