Description

Nalgene™ PPCO wide-mouth laboratory-quality bottles with closure are round sample bottles made from natural translucent polypropylene copolymer (PPCO) for storing materials that must withstand autoclaving. Nominal volume is 250 ml (8 oz), combined with a wide mouth that eases filling, pouring and cleaning. Inner neck diameter is 33 mm; the linerless polypropylene screw closure is size 43 mm and shares the natural translucent appearance of the bottle. Produced to the quality requirements of ISO 13485:2016, the bottles and closures satisfy USP Class VI and the food- and beverage-contact criteria of US 21CFR177.1520. Laboratory users receive these containers from manufacturer Thermo Scientific complete with closures, in packs of 12 and cases of 72. The vessels are not graduated and are not intended for dispensing through the cap. Translucent PPCO allows visual inspection of fill level, while the autoclavable design supports repeated sterilisation cycles in analytical, biotech and general laboratory environments.

A laboratory bottle is a closed container with a stated volume and a neck that takes a cap, a stopper or a dispenser. Borosilicate glass is the choice when the liquid is a solvent, or when the bottle will be heated or autoclaved. Polyethylene and polypropylene are the choice when the bottle must not shatter, or when hydrofluoric acid would attack glass. A narrow mouth pours. A wide mouth is for powders and for reaching the bottom. Laboratory ware of this kind is indexed under ISO laboratory glassware. Traceable volume sits with the BIPM and NIST Physical Measurement.
