Description
PH8500-MS portable pH meter is a compact instrument for determining pH, ORP (electrode available separately) and temperature, especially in small liquid samples or narrow vessels. The included LabSen® 243-6 micro pH/temperature electrode has a slender form that measures volumes down to 200 µl and, with a suitable test tube, as low as 60 µl. It operates up to 100 °C and integrates a temperature sensor for automatic temperature compensation (ATC). Protected by a silicone sleeve and rated IP57 against water and dust, the meter from APERA Instruments is suited to field work in demanding surroundings; a fold-out stand supports comfortable indoor use. Fast 1- to 3-point calibration, a large backlit LCD showing pH and temperature plus calibration data, self-diagnosis, GLP data management for 500 memory groups and USB output for data transfer or real-time logging are provided. Measuring ranges are pH −2,00 to 16,00 (resolution 0,1/0,01, accuracy ±0,01 pH), mV ±2000 and temperature 0 to 100 °C. The set comprises the meter, LabSen 243-6 electrode, pH 7,00 and pH 4,00 calibration solutions (50 ml each), USB cable and carrying case. Meter dimensions are 88 × 170 × 33 mm at 0,313 kg net weight.

Questions about PH8500-MS Portable pH Meter for Test Tubes and Small Sample Volumes
What is this article?
PH8500-MS Portable pH Meter for Test Tubes and Small Sample Volumes is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH meters, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.
A pH meter reads the electrode and displays pH, after calibration with at least two buffers. A meter that cannot be calibrated is a voltmeter. Resolution to 0.001 is not the same as accuracy. Portable and benchtop meters differ in the electrodes they accept and in the data they store.
A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
