Description

Photometer for high-range nickel is a portable, battery-powered instrument from the HI97xxx series designed for photometric determination of nickel up to 7,00 g/L. It employs an advanced optical system with an LED source and narrow-band interference filter at 575 nm, sealed against dust, dirt and water, together with a silicon photocell detector and a fixed cuvette positioning design for repeatable readings. Measurement range is 0,00 to 7,00 g/L with 0,01 g/L resolution and accuracy of ±0,07 g/L ±4 % of reading at 25 °C, using round 24,6 mm cuvettes. Nickel analysis supports alloy and plating quality control, battery and fuel-cell materials, and related process waters. Supplied ready for field or laboratory use from manufacturer Hanna Instruments in a transport case with two capped measuring cuvettes, plastic inserts, CAL CHECK™ standards, cuvette cleaning cloth, scissors, three 1,5 V batteries, quality certificate and manual; reagents are ordered separately. CAL CHECK™ with NIST-traceable standards enables performance verification and recalibration, while a tutorial mode guides sample preparation. GLP data, storage of the last 50 results, built-in reaction timer, battery indicator, auto-off and an IP67-rated housing complete the package for reliable high-range nickel monitoring.

Questions about Portable Photometer for Nickel HR with CAL Check standards

What is this article?

Portable Photometer for Nickel HR with CAL Check standards is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Hanna Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in Photometers & spectrophotometers, inside Spectroscopy & photometry, in Lab instruments.

A photometer reads absorbance at one or a few wavelengths. A spectrophotometer scans or selects many. Both send light through a cuvette or a well. The wavelength range, UV or visible, and the bandwidth decide what can be measured. A visible-only instrument cannot read a nucleic acid at 260 nm.

A photometer or spectrophotometer sends light through a sample and reads how much was absorbed. In the range where the Beer–Lambert relation holds, absorbance tracks concentration. A refractometer reads how a liquid bends light, which tracks dissolved solids. A polarimeter reads the rotation of polarised light, the classical measurement for sugars. The lamp, the wavelength and the cuvette path length are the three things that have to be right before the number means anything. The optical quantities trace to NIST and the BIPM.
