Description

August psychrometer thermometer is an enclosed-form instrument for wet- and dry-bulb humidity determination according to the August principle, built similarly to DIN practice. It measures from −35 °C to +40 °C with a scale division of 0,2 °C. A special internal capillary coating works together with a non-wetting blue special filling to support stable, clearly readable meniscus behaviour. The stem measures 370 × 15 mm and is intended for total immersion; a saddle and plastic cap are included for mounting and protection. This thermometer from manufacturer Amarell is supplied with a factory test certificate covering one test point, documenting basic performance at delivery. The enclosed construction protects the scale during routine laboratory and field use. Typical applications include psychrometric humidity measurement, climate cabinets, meteorological setups and general laboratory temperature work where a fine 0,2 °C graduation and defined immersion behaviour are required.

This article is part of Laboratory glass thermometers, in Temperature measurement.

What is this article?

Psychrometer thermometer according to August, similar DIN, enclosed scale, is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Amarell for laboratory use. It sits in Laboratory glass thermometers, inside Temperature measurement, in Lab instruments.

A liquid-in-glass thermometer is a calibrated column, often with a stated immersion depth, total or partial. The range and the division decide the reading. A partial-immersion thermometer read at the wrong depth is wrong by design.

A thermometer reports a temperature. A liquid-in-glass thermometer is a calibrated column. A digital thermometer is a sensor and a display, and the sensor, not the display, is what is calibrated. An infrared thermometer reads a surface and depends on emissivity. A data logger stores the reading over time. Without a stated uncertainty and a calibration point, the number is only an indication. The scale is maintained by the BIPM and compared by EURAMET. Accreditation is BELAC.
