Description

SICCO cable feed-through iris port is a compact panel feed-through for routing cables, hoses and pipes through enclosure walls in laboratory setups. The assembly measures 31 mm in height with an outer diameter of 86 mm and combines natural polypropylene parts with two cross-slotted silicone discs mounted offset to each other. Media with an outer diameter of up to 40 mm can be passed through directly; the iris-style silicone arrangement conforms around the routed item for a practical working seal. Installation is intended for panels 2–4 mm thick using a connection bore of 74,5 mm. Dimensional detail from the manufacturer data gives an internal height of 27 mm, an external flange height of 4 mm and a diameter of 86 mm. Net weight is 0,11 kg (110 g). Supplied as a single piece in the SICCO range from manufacturer Bohlender, this iris port suits glove boxes and similar housings where flexible cable and tubing feed-through is needed without bulky cable glands. Materials are polypropylene and silicone as specified for laboratory material applications.

This article is part of Hose connectors, adapters & fittings, in Tubing, hoses & fittings.

Questions about SICCO Cable lead-in Iris-Port, H 31 mm x Ø 86 mm of PP natural, two crosswise sl

What is this article?

SICCO Cable lead-in Iris-Port, H 31 mm x Ø 86 mm of PP natural, two crosswise sl is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Hose connectors, adapters & fittings, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

A hose connector or adapter joins two lines, or steps one bore down to another. The barb diameter has to match the tube, and the thread has to match the stopcock or the bottle. Most leaks are a mismatch here, not a hole in the tube.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
