Description
SONOPULS HD 4400 is a laboratory ultrasonic homogeniser for processing volumes from 100 to 3000 ml. The ready-to-operate basic configuration is intended for working volumes of 500 to 2000 ml and comprises the GM 4400 ultrasonic generator, UW 400 ultrasonic transducer, SH 400 G stepped horn and TS 425 titanium sonotrode with a diameter of 25 mm, including the tool for sonotrode assembly. Amplitude is adjustable from 10 to 100 % with actual-value display; pulsation, an integrated timer and remote-control capability support flexible method control. The AMPLICHRON® circuit maintains a constant amplitude independent of changing process conditions. With a nominal power of 400 W, this system from manufacturer Bandelin is suited to disruption of cells, bacteria, viruses and tissue, preparation of fine emulsions, homogenisation of substances, degassing of liquids, sample preparation for particle-size analysis and acceleration of chemical reactions. Net weight is 7,08 kg, giving a compact footprint for routine bench work in analytical and life-science laboratories.
This article is part of Homogenisers & dispersers, in Stirring, shaking & mixing.

Questions about SONOPULS HD 4100 Ultrasonic homogeniser
What is this article?
SONOPULS HD 4100 Ultrasonic homogeniser is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bandelin for laboratory use. It sits in Homogenisers & dispersers, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.
A homogeniser or disperser uses a rotor inside a stator to tear a sample and disperse it. Tip diameter and speed decide the particle size. A generator for 2 mL and a generator for 1 L are different tools on, sometimes, the same drive.
Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
