Description
STERIPLAN® Petri dish made of soda-lime glass is a flat, round, transparent culture vessel with lid intended for the cultivation of microorganisms on gel-like nutrient media. Measuring 90 mm in diameter and 15 mm in height, the dish permits uniform distribution of solid media and prevents mixing of microbial populations so that distinct colonies can develop. Produced bubble- and streak-free from soda-lime glass by manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, it supports reliable growth of larger cell-culture accumulations under standard laboratory conditions. Typical applications include growth and cultivation of microorganisms, culture on solid gel nutrient media, microscopy of microorganisms and general cell-culture work. The clear glass construction facilitates visual inspection and microscopic examination while the consistent geometry ensures even media layers for reproducible results. Supplied as a single non-sterile piece, this reusable glass Petri dish is well suited to microbiological and cell-culture laboratories that require durable, optically clear culture vessels for routine and research use.

Questions about STERIPLAN® Petri Dish, from Soda-lime Glass
What is this article?
STERIPLAN® Petri Dish, from Soda-lime Glass is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Petri dishes, inside Culture media & microbiology, in Microbiology lab supplies.
A Petri dish is the shallow lidded plate agar is poured into, or a sample is placed in. Diameter and whether it is vented, and whether it arrives sterile and empty or already filled, are the choices. A 90 mm dish is the ordinary one. Slippable lids and vented lids differ in how they dry a plate.
A culture medium is the food and the solid or liquid home of a microorganism. Dehydrated media are powders the laboratory dissolves and sterilises. Ready-to-use plates and tubes are already that. A Petri dish is the plate. Selective media let one kind of organism grow and hold another back. The formulation and the supplements, not the colour of the agar, are the specification. Reference strains are at ATCC. Methods are on PubMed. Biosafety practice is the WHO laboratory biosafety topic.
