Description

Thermometer with standard ground joint NS 14,5/23, similar to DIN, enclosed scale provides reliable temperature indication in laboratory apparatus fitted with standard ground joints. It covers −10 °C to +250 °C with a 1 °C scale division and an enclosed-scale layout that shields the graduation. The prismatic capillary is uncoated and contains a blue special filling for distinct readability. The upper section measures 350 × 11 mm; installation length from the upper edge of the joint is 90 mm and immersion depth from the lower edge of the joint is 67 mm, giving a longer immersion path than shorter sister models. A Richter closure without button completes the design, and the unit is calibratable. This ground-joint thermometer from manufacturer Amarell is suited to distillation, reflux and reaction glassware that specify NS 14,5/23. Delivered as one piece, it supports accurate process control in chemical and analytical laboratories requiring a DIN-similar Schliff thermometer.

This article is part of Laboratory glass thermometers, in Temperature measurement.

What is this article?

Thermometer with standard ground joint NS 14,5/23, similar to DIN, enclosed is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Amarell for laboratory use. It sits in Laboratory glass thermometers, inside Temperature measurement, in Lab instruments.

A liquid-in-glass thermometer is a calibrated column, often with a stated immersion depth, total or partial. The range and the division decide the reading. A partial-immersion thermometer read at the wrong depth is wrong by design.

A thermometer reports a temperature. A liquid-in-glass thermometer is a calibrated column. A digital thermometer is a sensor and a display, and the sensor, not the display, is what is calibrated. An infrared thermometer reads a surface and depends on emissivity. A data logger stores the reading over time. Without a stated uncertainty and a calibration point, the number is only an indication. The scale is maintained by the BIPM and compared by EURAMET. Accreditation is BELAC.
