Description

ROTAVISC SBS hi-vi II HELI Complete is a rotational viscometer package for fast, precise viscosity determination over a measuring range of 800 – 320.000.000 mPa·s. Instead of a jewel bearing, the SBS (Steel Ball Bearing, Suspended) design uses specialised ball-bearing technology, giving the instrument high robustness for high sample throughput, frequent spindle changes, rougher environments, or regular relocation of the device.

This article is part of Viscometers, in Density & viscosity measurement.

Viscosity measurement in motion is supported by the motorised HELISTAND, which moves the mounted viscometer and rotating body slowly and evenly up and down in the sample. Operation is straightforward via the generous 4,3″ TFT display with intuitive menu guidance; a digital spirit level helps set correct starting conditions, and a simple ramp function eases recurring tasks. Accuracy for Newtonian and non-Newtonian liquids is ±1 % of the measuring range, with reproducibility of ±0,2 %. Speed is steplessly adjustable, and programmes or individual speed steps can also be predefined. This complete package from manufacturer IKA combines the hi-vi II head with the HELI stand for versatile laboratory viscosity work.

Questions about ROTAVISC SBS hi-vi II HELI Complete, Rotational viscometer package

What is this article?

ROTAVISC SBS hi-vi II HELI Complete, Rotational viscometer package is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Viscometers, inside Density & viscosity measurement, in Lab instruments.

A capillary viscometer times the flow of a liquid through a tube. A rotational viscometer twists a spindle in the liquid. Both need a stated temperature. Kinematic and dynamic viscosity are different numbers. The capillary size has to put the flow time in the range the method allows.

Density is mass divided by volume. A hydrometer floats at a depth that depends on the density of the liquid. A pycnometer is a vessel of known volume that is weighed full. Viscosity is the resistance to flow. A capillary viscometer times how long a volume takes to fall through a tube. Both measurements need a stated temperature, because liquids change density and viscosity as they warm. The units trace to the BIPM and to NIST.
