Description
BOLA Disc Stirrer Shaft, length 450 mm with shaft diameter 6 mm, is a laboratory stirring shaft designed for effective radial mixing. It features a PTFE-coated stainless steel shaft and a disc-shaped stirring blade with six radial PTFE blades, comparable to a Rushton turbine impeller. Only PTFE contacts the medium, giving universal chemical resistance for aggressive laboratory media. Outer disc diameter is 38 mm, with blade geometry A–B–C–D of 38 mm, 8 mm, 2 mm and 10 mm. Chuck diameter is 4 mm for mounting in standard laboratory drives, and the shaft is suitable for ground joint NS 45/40. Net weight is 0,062 kg. Supplied as one piece from manufacturer Bohlender, this stirrer supports propeller-style mixing tasks that require inert wetted surfaces and controlled radial flow. The stated dimensions and PTFE construction make it suitable for chemical and process laboratory work where metal exposure of the medium must be avoided.
This article is part of Stirring shafts, propellers & impellers, in Stirring, shaking & mixing.

What is this article?
BOLA Discs Stirrer Shafts, L 450 mm, Ø 6 mm, aØ 38 mm Fluoroplastic-jacketed sta is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Stirring shafts, propellers & impellers, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.
A shaft, a propeller or an impeller is the wetted end of an overhead stirrer. The diameter and the pitch decide whether the liquid turns over. The material, stainless steel or PTFE, decides what the liquid may be. The chuck size has to match the stirrer.
Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
