Description

BOLA connection fittings in PTFE are laboratory screw fittings designed to join tubing or rigid pipes of different outer diameters in chemical and analytical setups. This connector bridges a small-bore hose side of outer diameter 1,6 × 3,2 mm (1/16 × 1/8'') to larger tubing of outer diameter 8 mm and 10 mm, using a union nut with compression wedge rings for a secure, chemically resistant seal. The laboratory screw-fitting end accepts hoses with outer diameter 1,6 mm or 3,2 mm, while the opposite side is configured for 4, 6, 8 or 10 mm outer-diameter tubes or pipes as described by the manufacturer. Overall outer diameter is 25 mm and total length is 74 mm, giving a compact transition piece for bench manifolds, transfer lines and apparatus connections. Manufactured from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) by Bohlender, the fitting offers the broad chemical inertness typical of PTFE fluid-path components and is supplied as a single piece with a net weight of 0,045 kg. It is intended for laboratory fluid handling where a reliable PTFE screw connection between small and larger tubing is required without metal contact in the wetted path.

Questions about BOLA Joining Fittings, a Ø 3,2 mm - a Ø 8 / 10 mm PTFE, laboratory screw joint m

What is this article?

BOLA Joining Fittings, a Ø 3,2 mm - a Ø 8 / 10 mm PTFE, laboratory screw joint m is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Hose connectors, adapters & fittings, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

A hose connector or adapter joins two lines, or steps one bore down to another. The barb diameter has to match the tube, and the thread has to match the stopcock or the bottle. Most leaks are a mismatch here, not a hole in the tube.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
