Description
Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) Fraction V,, fatty acid-free Europe, min. 98 %, Molar mass (M) ~66 000 g/mol, Storage temp. +4 °C, CAS No. 9048-46-8, EC No. 232-936-2
For purification of this Albumin an extensive heat-shock/diafiltration method is used, which has been shown to bring more highly purified products than the standard process acc. to Cohn. The process is taking place in a closed system.
Molar extinction coefficient: 4,4x104 L x mol-1 x cm-1 (acc. to 0,667 L x mol-1 x cm-1 for a 0,1 % solution).
Suitable for all immunoassays, for stabilising proteins, enzymes and antibodies and as a blocking-reagent during hybridisation.
Tested for very low fatty acid concentration.

What is this article?
Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) Fraction V,, fatty acid-free Europe, min. 98 %, 1 g is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Carl Roth for laboratory use. It sits in Lipids, steroids & fatty acids, inside Biochemicals & reagents, in Microbiology lab supplies.
A lipid, a steroid or a fatty acid is specified by chain length, saturation and purity. Esters and free acids are different compounds. Many are supplied in a small amount under inert gas because they oxidise. The physical form, oil or powder, follows from the structure.
A biochemical is a molecule of life, sold as a reagent: an amino acid, a sugar, a nucleotide, a lipid, an enzyme, an antibiotic. The difference from a bulk chemical is that the use is a biological one, and the impurities that matter are the ones that change that use. An enzyme is specified by activity, not only by mass. An antibiotic is specified by potency. Papers are on PubMed. Structures are on PubChem. Strains and lines that consume these reagents are at ATCC.
Which category should I open next?

What should I check before I order?
The technical information on this page is the manufacturer's sheet. Read that, not a rewritten specification.
When this page shows a safety data sheet, use that manufacturer file. Hazard text does not belong in the sales description. For a pack size, a grade or a certificate that is not on the page, send a quote request or contact the team.
