Description

CHROMAFIL Xtra PA-45/13 is a disposable syringe filter for laboratory sample preparation. It uses a polyamide (nylon) membrane with a pore size of 0,45 µm and a membrane diameter of 13 mm, suited to clarifying aqueous and many organic solutions before chromatography or other instrumental work. The membrane sits in a colourless polypropylene housing that is labelled for quick identification at the bench. Inlet geometry is Luer-Lock and the outlet is standard Luer, giving a secure syringe connection and controlled flow during filtration. Packs contain 100 filters from manufacturer Macherey-Nagel, supporting routine high-throughput workflows where consistent particulate removal matters. The compact 13 mm format fits small sample volumes, while the 0,45 µm nylon membrane offers broad chemical compatibility for common laboratory solvents. These Xtra series units are intended for HPLC sample clean-up, general clarification and everyday filtration tasks in research, method development and quality-control laboratories that need reliable, ready-to-use disposable filters.

This article is part of Syringe filters, in Filtration.

Questions about CHROMAFIL Xtra PA-45/13

What is this article?

CHROMAFIL Xtra PA-45/13 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Macherey-Nagel for laboratory use. It sits in Syringe filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A syringe filter is a membrane in a plastic housing on a Luer fitting. Pore size, membrane polymer and diameter are the three choices. 0.2 µm is the sterilising and the HPLC-particle cut. 0.45 µm is the coarser clarification. Aqueous and solvent-resistant membranes are different polymers.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
