It consists of a cylindrical body with an integrated large-pore sieve plate that acts as a stable carrier for membrane and paper filters. Without additional filter paper only coarse filtration is achieved; when used under reduced pressure the applied vacuum markedly accelerates solid–liquid separation. The glass offers the well-known chemical resistance and high thermal-shock resistance of DURAN® material from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, complemented by a permanently fired white print that remains legible after repeated use and cleaning.
