DURAN® flat flange beaker with flange groove is a large-volume reaction vessel intended as a practical alternative to round-bottom flasks for preparative laboratory work. With a nominal volume of 1000 ml and nominal diameter DN 150, the beaker forms the lower section of a flat-flange system that is closed with a matching lid and clamping ring. A gasket or ground-joint grease prevents seizing of the mating surfaces, while standard joints in the lid allow connection of dropping funnels, stirrer shafts and other accessories. Manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3, the vessel incorporates a flange groove that accepts an O-ring for a secure seal. Geometry and substantial wall thickness confer pressure and vacuum resistance up to the technically maximum attainable vacuum when safety instructions are observed. The permanently fired white print remains legible throughout the service life. Suitable for general reactions, distillations, evaporations, drying of solid or viscous materials and use with Witt-type filtration apparatus, this flat flange beaker from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences should be heated only in a water or oil bath; at a maximum application temperature of 250 °C the temperature difference across the glass wall must not exceed 30 °C.
