Description

DURAN® flat flange beaker with flange groove is a large-volume reaction vessel designed as an alternative to conventional round-bottom flasks for preparative chemistry. Offering a nominal volume of 2000 ml and nominal diameter DN 150, the beaker constitutes the lower part of a flat-flange assembly that is secured to its lid by a clamping ring. A suitable gasket or ground-joint grease prevents the ground surfaces from seizing, while the lid’s standard joints permit combination with dropping funnels, stirrer shafts and further components. Produced from borosilicate glass 3.3, the vessel features a flange groove into which an O-ring can be seated to achieve a tight closure. Its geometry and solid wall thickness provide pressure and vacuum capability up to the technically maximum possible vacuum, enhancing operator safety when the relevant instructions are followed. The white print is fired into the glass and therefore remains permanently legible. Ideal for general reactions, distillations, evaporations, drying steps involving solids or viscous media and for coupling to Witt-type filtration devices, this flat flange beaker from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences must be heated exclusively in a water or oil bath; under the maximum application temperature of 250 °C the temperature gradient within the glass wall must stay below 30 °C.

Questions about DURAN® Flat Flange Beaker, flange with groove

What is this article?

DURAN® Flat Flange Beaker, flange with groove is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Beakers, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

A beaker is an open, straight-sided working vessel with a spout. It is for dissolving, heating and pouring. The graduations are a guide, not a volumetric calibration. Low form and tall form differ in stability and in how easily a liquid splashes.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
