Description

DURAN® flat flange beaker with grooved flange (DN 120, 3000 ml) is a large-volume reaction vessel fabricated from borosilicate glass 3.3 and conceived as an alternative to classic round-bottom flasks. It comprises a lower vessel and a lid joined by a clamping ring; a gasket or ground-joint grease stops the ground surfaces from seizing. Various standard ground joints in the lid enable combination with dropping funnels, stirrer shafts and other laboratory fittings. Flat flange vessels excel in preparative tasks such as general reactions, distillations, evaporations and drying operations that involve solid or highly viscous materials. Thanks to their geometry and substantial wall thickness they permit safe working under pressure and vacuum up to the technically maximum attainable vacuum. The groove machined into the flange accepts an O-ring, ensuring a secure seal. Permanent white markings are fired into the glass for long-term durability. The beaker is compatible with Witt-type filtration apparatus and should be heated exclusively in a water or oil bath. At a maximum application temperature of 250 °C under the allowable operating overpressure, the temperature difference in the glass wall must not exceed 30 °C. Supplied as a single unit from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences.

Questions about DURAN® Flat Flange Beaker, flange with groove

What is this article?

DURAN® Flat Flange Beaker, flange with groove is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Beakers, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

A beaker is an open, straight-sided working vessel with a spout. It is for dissolving, heating and pouring. The graduations are a guide, not a volumetric calibration. Low form and tall form differ in stability and in how easily a liquid splashes.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
