Description

DURAN® glass stopper, clear and semi-hollow with standard ground joint NS 34/35 and octagonal head closes glassware such as flasks, separatory funnels or reagent bottles that have ground joint necks. The precision standard taper ground glass joint creates a tight, leak-proof seal that protects contents reliably. Grease is recommended when the assembly is used under heating or vacuum conditions. Manufactured entirely from borosilicate glass 3.3, the stopper contains only glass components and is therefore well suited to the storage of aggressive materials. The distinctive octagonal head provides a secure grip for easy insertion and removal. This stopper from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences is intended for the storage of air-sensitive reagents and chemicals as well as hygroscopic solids, granules and powders. When the stopper is combined with soda-lime glass bottles, a temperature difference greater than 30 °C between bottle and stopper can cause the joint to seize. Supplied as a single piece with a net weight of 0,095 kg, it offers durable chemical resistance for everyday laboratory use.

This article is part of Ground-joint glass stoppers, in Stoppers, caps & closures.

Questions about DURAN® Glass Stopper, clear, with standard ground joint, octagonal

What is this article?

DURAN® Glass Stopper, clear, with standard ground joint, octagonal is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Ground-joint glass stoppers, inside Stoppers, caps & closures, in Labware.

A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck of a stated joint size. A 14/23 stopper does not seal a 29/32 neck. The stopper is part of the flask's seal, and a chip on the grind is a leak.

A closure is the part that decides whether a bottle stays shut and whether the contents attack the seal. A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck. A screw cap needs the right thread and a liner that survives the liquid. Rubber and silicone stoppers push into a mouth. The liner, not the colour of the cap, is the chemical choice. The vessels they close are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
