Description

DURAN® Intensive condenser NS 29/32, 250 mm is a laboratory glass condenser that unites the cooling principles of a Liebig condenser and a Dimroth condenser in one design. Its large cooling surface—formed by an internal cooling coil together with an outer jacket—supports efficient condensation of vapours from reaction mixtures with low boiling points, making it well suited to distillation and reflux work. The body is made of borosilicate glass 3.3 and is fitted with two standard ground joints (NS) for a tight seal. Two detachable plastic olives provide convenient inlet and outlet connections for the cooling medium. Supplied as one piece from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the condenser is used as a reflux cooler to condense and return solvent vapours to the reaction mixture, and for general distillation tasks. These condensers are special sizes and are not manufactured to DIN. The combination of coil and double-jacket geometry delivers the extended cooling area needed for low-boiling media in everyday laboratory practice.

Questions about DURAN® Jacketed Coil Condenser, standard ground joints, plastic hose connections

What is this article?

DURAN® Jacketed Coil Condenser, standard ground joints, plastic hose connections is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Hose connectors, adapters & fittings, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

A hose connector or adapter joins two lines, or steps one bore down to another. The barb diameter has to match the tube, and the thread has to match the stopcock or the bottle. Most leaks are a mismatch here, not a hole in the tube.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
