Description
DURAN® mixing cylinder with hexagonal base is a class B volumetric vessel for diluting solutions and mixing several components in defined quantity ratios. Fabricated from borosilicate glass 3.3, the 500 ml cylinder is calibrated to contain (In) at the +20 °C reference temperature. A large hexagonal foot fitted with three base knobs delivers secure standing stability and prevents rolling. Uniform wall thickness throughout the measuring range eliminates wedge errors. The cylinder is supplied with a polyethylene octagonal stopper that ensures a tight seal via the NS 34/35 ground joint. Its white scale is permanently fired into the glass and remains easily readable thanks to clear line graduations. Volume tolerances meet accuracy class B according to DIN and ISO. This mixing cylinder from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences is suited to measuring liquid volumes, solution dilution, multi-component mixing and general laboratory volumetry. To preserve long-term accuracy and avoid volume changes, the glassware should not be heated above +250 °C in drying ovens or sterilizers. Pack of 2 pieces.
This article is part of Mixing cylinders, in Volumetric glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Mixing Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class B, white scale, with graduation
What is this article?
DURAN® Mixing Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class B, white scale, with graduation is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Mixing cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.
A mixing cylinder is a graduated cylinder with a stopper, so a dilute solution can be shaken in the vessel it was measured in. It is coarser than a volumetric flask and more convenient when many dilutions are made by hand.
Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
