Description
DURAN® round-bottom flask with wide neck and beaded rim is a 250 ml laboratory vessel made of borosilicate glass 3.3. These bulbous flasks constitute versatile laboratory containers comparable to beakers and are commonly applied in distillations or for heating liquids. The wide neck allows comfortable filling and cleaning, and the rounded geometry supports very even heating throughout the contents. A white imprint is fired into the glass, rendering the marking permanently resistant to wear. Flasks exist in many forms—narrow or wide neck, ground-joint or plain, round-bottom or flat-bottom—so the appropriate design can be selected for each application. Supplied by manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, this model is particularly useful in heating mantles, for general heating and for mixing several components. While certain sizes (50 ml, 1 000 ml and larger) are not covered by DIN EN ISO, the 250 ml flask provides a practical standard capacity for routine laboratory thermal work. Borosilicate glass 3.3 delivers the chemical and thermal resistance required for repeated experimental use.

Questions about DURAN® Round Bottom Flask Wide neck, with beaded rim
What is this article?
DURAN® Round Bottom Flask Wide neck, with beaded rim is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Round-bottom flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.
A round-bottom flask is the heating flask of a distillation or a reflux. The curved wall takes the heat, and the ground neck connects to a still head or a condenser. The joint size, not only the volume, has to match the rest of the set.
A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
