Description

DURAN® round-bottom flask with wide neck and beaded rim is a large laboratory vessel of nominal volume 20 l manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3. Bulbous flasks of this type serve as universal labware alongside beakers and are routinely employed for distillations or for heating liquids. The wide neck permits straightforward filling and cleaning, while the rounded geometry promotes highly uniform heat distribution. Round-bottom flasks are supplied in numerous variants—narrow or wide neck, with or without ground joints, round- or flat-bottom—so that the vessel and its accessories can be matched precisely to the intended use. This particular 20 l size, together with the 50 ml, 1 l, 2 l, 3 l, 5 l, 6 l, 10 l and 12 l versions, is not manufactured to DIN EN ISO. Produced by Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the flask carries a fired-on, permanently durable white print and is well suited for heating mantles, general heating work and the mixing of several components. The single-neck design with beaded rim ensures secure handling during everyday laboratory operations.

Questions about DURAN® Round Bottom Flask Wide neck, with beaded rim

What is this article?

DURAN® Round Bottom Flask Wide neck, with beaded rim is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Round-bottom flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

A round-bottom flask is the heating flask of a distillation or a reflux. The curved wall takes the heat, and the ground neck connects to a still head or a condenser. The joint size, not only the volume, has to match the rest of the set.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
