Description

DURAN® round-bottom flask with NS 24/29 is a 1000 ml single-neck laboratory flask produced from borosilicate glass 3.3. Round-bottom flasks are firmly established in laboratory practice thanks to their many possible uses. Contained media can be heated by means of heating mantles or liquid baths, or cooled in a cold bath; point-wise heating or cooling must be avoided. The flask geometry allows very uniform heating, and the shape also supports vacuum applications when the glass surface shows no impacts or deep scratches. The standard ground joint delivers a tight closure and accurate connection to additional ground-joint components including columns, thermometers and dropping funnels. The vessel can be sealed with glass or plastic stoppers and bears a permanently fired-on white print. Typical work includes distillation, extraction, evaporation of liquids, drying of materials, heating in baths or mantles, and fixation on stands. This 1 l single-neck design (net weight 0,27 kg) comes from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences as a practical borosilicate glass item for routine laboratory operations, packed in units of ten pieces.

Questions about DURAN® Round Bottom Flask, with standard ground joint

What is this article?

DURAN® Round Bottom Flask, with standard ground joint is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Round-bottom flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

A round-bottom flask is the heating flask of a distillation or a reflux. The curved wall takes the heat, and the ground neck connects to a still head or a condenser. The joint size, not only the volume, has to match the rest of the set.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
