Description

DURAN® ground cone NS 10/19 is a precision male ground-glass joint intended for assembly into laboratory glass apparatus. Produced from borosilicate glass 3.3, the cone follows DIN 12249 Form B geometry and is finished with a fine grind that achieves lower surface roughness than conventional joints. This refined surface reduces the quantity of joint grease required and significantly decreases the likelihood of the joint seizing during use. Conical ground joints remain the most widely employed connection method in glass apparatus construction; for a reliable seal they should be combined with joint grease or PTFE sleeves, while KECK™ conical joint clips offer convenient mechanical securing. The article is supplied as a single piece ready for further processing and incorporation into custom glassware systems. Available from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the NS 10/19 size guarantees interchangeability with corresponding sockets and supports dense, leak-resistant closures in demanding laboratory environments where the chemical resistance and thermal stability of borosilicate glass 3.3 are essential for durable apparatus construction.

This article is part of Distillation heads, adapters & columns, in Distillation & extraction glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Standard Cone finished

What is this article?

DURAN® Standard Cone finished is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Distillation heads, adapters & columns, inside Distillation & extraction glassware, in Labware.

A still head, an adapter or a column is the glass between the boiling flask and the condenser. A Vigreux or packed column gives the vapour a surface so a closer-boiling mixture can separate. The joint sizes at both ends have to match the flask and the condenser.

Distillation separates liquids by boiling point. A condenser turns the vapour back into liquid: Liebig, coil and cold-finger shapes differ in how much cooling surface they offer. A still head and a column sit between the flask and the condenser. A Soxhlet extractor washes a solid again and again with the same solvent. Ground joints have a standard size, and the joint, not the flask, is what has to match. The pieces are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
