Description

DURAN® two-neck round-bottom flask with standard ground joints and angled side neck is a laboratory vessel manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3. Featuring a nominal volume of 1000 ml, it offers a centre neck NS 29/32 together with an angled side neck NS 14/23 for flexible attachment of adapters, columns, thermometers, dropping funnels or boiling capillaries. Multi-neck flasks of this design are preferred for distillation, fractionation and reaction procedures that require simultaneous access through several ports. The flask geometry enables very uniform heating and is therefore well suited to heating baths, heating mantles, extraction work and connection to additional glass apparatus. Tight sealing is achieved via the standardised ground joints, and a permanently fired white print provides durable identification. Available as one piece from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the flask supports reliable multi-port configurations in routine laboratory heating and preparative chemistry applications.

Questions about DURAN® Twin-Neck Round Bottom Flask, standard ground joint, angled side neck

What is this article?

DURAN® Twin-Neck Round Bottom Flask, standard ground joint, angled side neck is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Round-bottom flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

A round-bottom flask is the heating flask of a distillation or a reflux. The curved wall takes the heat, and the ground neck connects to a still head or a condenser. The joint size, not only the volume, has to match the rest of the set.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
