DURAN® Vacuum Desiccator Set, Type MOBILEX (GL 32) with stopcock and PTFE spindle is a vacuum-capable laboratory vessel with ground-joint lid intended for storage of moisture-sensitive substances and drying of moist products. This DN 150 configuration is supplied without porcelain plate and is fabricated from borosilicate glass 3.3. A drying agent placed in the lower part of the base, separated by a sieve plate, binds humidity from the material positioned above. Connecting vacuum through the stopcock speeds the drying process because lower pressure promotes faster evaporation. The flat ground joint should be adequately greased so the lid can be released more easily after evacuation, when atmospheric pressure presses the lid onto the base. Robust wall thickness and accurately machined vacuum-tight joints allow prolonged storage under vacuum.
