Description

Fluoroborate electrode DX287 is an ion-selective electrode (ISE) half-cell with polymer membrane for determination of fluoroborate ions. Designated DX287-BF4, it provides a measuring range from 1,0 to 1,0 × 10⁻⁶ mol/L and an optimal pH working window of 2 to 12. The shaft is made of POM/PVC and the half-cell operates across a temperature range of 0 to 50 °C.

This article is part of pH electrodes & sensors, in pH & electrochemistry.

This modular ion-sensitive half-cell from manufacturer Mettler-Toledo OnLine comprises a universal shaft and an exchangeable ion-specific membrane module. Every ISE and membrane module is wet-chemically tested to meet strict protocols covering multiple direct measurements and a typical titration application. Each electrode carries a serial number and is supplied with a quality certificate. When another ion must be measured, the corresponding membrane kit is ordered and the new module is simply screwed onto the existing shaft, converting the half-cell without replacing the entire assembly. Offered as a single piece with a net weight of 0,22 kg, the DX287 supports flexible ion analysis in laboratory titration and direct-measurement workflows.

Questions about DX287-BF4 ISE half-cell electrode

What is this article?

DX287-BF4 ISE half-cell electrode is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Mettler-Toledo OnLine for laboratory use. It sits in pH electrodes & sensors, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
