Description
Amorphous carbon electrode for ElectraSyn 2.0 is a specialised pyrolytic carbon graphite electrode for electrochemical synthesis work. The graphite surface is CVD-coated by chemical vapor deposition to remove undesirable properties of conventional graphite electrodes, such as absorption of organic material. This surface treatment also changes reactivity, giving behaviour similar to glassy carbon and RVC. Pyrolytic carbon is more readily accessible than glassy carbon and mechanically more robust than RVC, improving reusability in research reactions and making scale-up easier. Colour changes may appear after exposure to environmental influences; colouration does not affect electrode performance. Supplied as a pack of 2 pieces from manufacturer IKA, the electrode supports laboratory electrosynthesis workflows that benefit from a low-absorption carbon surface, consistent reactivity and greater mechanical integrity under repeated use with the ElectraSyn 2.0 system.
This article is part of Titrators & electrochemistry systems, in pH & electrochemistry.

Questions about Electrode Amorphous Carbon, Electrode for ElectraSyn 2.0
What is this article?
Electrode Amorphous Carbon, Electrode for ElectraSyn 2.0 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Titrators & electrochemistry systems, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.
A titrator adds a reagent and watches an electrode until an endpoint, then calculates the amount. It is a burette, a stirrer and a meter in one. The electrode and the reagent concentration still decide the result. A manual titration is the same chemistry without the automation.
A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
