Description
Filter plate, biplanar, 270 mm, Por. 3 is a VitraPOR® glass filter plate manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3. With a diameter of 270 mm, porosity grade 3 and a thickness of 18,0 mm (± 0,5 mm), it provides a large-format porous disc for laboratory filtration setups. Both faces are ground so that thickness remains exact and the working surfaces stay plane-parallel, aiding even seating and reliable mounting. Supplied as one piece from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, the plate is suitable for fritted glass assemblies, custom filter constructions and process filtration tasks that call for a defined pore grade and stable geometry. Borosilicate 3.3 offers the chemical durability and thermal stability commonly required in analytical and preparative environments. Porosity 3 gives a finer controlled pore structure relative to coarser grades, supporting solid–liquid separations where tighter retention is needed. The ground, plane-parallel finish across the full 270 mm diameter helps preserve dimensional consistency for sealing, clamping or further glassworking, delivering a practical porous element for routine and specialised filtration work.

What is this article?
Filter Disc, bi-plane, 270 mm, Por. 3 Thickness 18.0 mm ± 0.5 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.
A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.
Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
