Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate in borosilicate 3.3 is a round, centred sintered disc with a diameter of 200 mm and porosity grade 4 for laboratory filtration applications. Nominal thickness is 15,0 mm with a tolerance of ± 3,5 mm; the surface is untreated, providing a plain working face for seating in filter holders, funnels and purpose-built glassware. Porosity 4 is intended for finer solid–liquid separations and clarification tasks where a tighter pore structure than coarser grades is needed while maintaining practical flow. Fabricated as a single borosilicate 3.3 piece, the plate combines chemical durability with the thermal characteristics expected of this glass in everyday laboratory and process use. Available as one piece from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, it is suitable for standardised VitraPOR® filtration setups, spare-part replacement or construction of dedicated filter assemblies that specify porosity 4 at 200 mm diameter. The round, centred form supports reliable alignment and sealing in matching apparatus without further surface treatment.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, centered, 200 mm, Por. 4 Thickness 15 mm ± 3.5 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
