Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate is a round, centred borosilicate 3.3 disc with a diameter of 300 mm, porosity grade 0 and a thickness of 26,0 mm (tolerance ± 6,0 mm). The untreated surface is intended for filtration and related laboratory separation tasks where a rigid sintered-glass plate of defined porosity is required. Porosity 0 corresponds to a coarse pore structure suitable for applications that need relatively free liquid flow through the frit. Made from chemically resistant borosilicate glass 3.3, the plate withstands typical laboratory thermal and chemical conditions associated with glass filtration hardware. This filter plate from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon is supplied as a single piece and can be integrated into custom filter assemblies, columns or apparatus that accept a 300 mm diameter disc. The stated thickness tolerance of ± 6,0 mm reflects the manufacturing range for this heavy sintered plate format. Ideal for preparative and process-oriented laboratory filtration setups needing a large-area Por. 0 glass frit.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, centered, 300 mm, Por. 0 Thickness 26 mm ± 6.0 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
