Description

Filter plate 80 mm is a VitraPOR® sintered glass disc manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3 for laboratory filtration applications. The round, centred plate has a diameter of 80 mm, porosity grade 0 and a nominal thickness of 6,0 mm (tolerance ± 1,3 mm according to manufacturer data). The untreated surface provides a clean filtration interface suitable for a variety of chemical and analytical procedures. Borosilicate 3.3 construction offers good thermal and chemical resistance typical of laboratory glassware. Supplied in packs of five pieces from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, these filter plates are intended for incorporation into filtration apparatus, funnels or custom glass assemblies requiring a defined porosity disc. Porosity 0 delivers relatively coarse retention characteristics appropriate for pre-filtration or coarse particulate separation. The consistent geometry and material quality support reproducible laboratory filtration set-ups.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, centered, 80 mm, Por. 0 Thickness 6.0 mm ± 1.4 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
