Description
Fluorescence microscope KERN OBN 141 is a professional fluorescence instrument built on the established quality and modularity of the OBN series. A stable, high-grade design is paired with quality optics suited to demanding fluorescence work in this class. The stand combines 3 W LED transmitted-light illumination with 3 W LED epi-fluorescence incident illumination. Professional Köhler illumination includes an adjustable field diaphragm and a centreable, height-adjustable 1,25 Abbe condenser with variable aperture diaphragm. The large mechanical stage with ergonomic coaxial coarse and fine drives on both sides allows fast, precise specimen positioning and focusing. A filter wheel that accepts up to six positions is supplied as standard with B/G fluorescence filters. Thanks to the modular construction, a wide range of eyepieces, objectives, colour filters, dark-field condensers, butterfly tubes, polarisation and phase-contrast units can be integrated. A centring objective for fluorescence adjustment, dust cover, eyecups and a multilingual operating manual are included; a C-mount adapter is required for camera connection. Typical application areas include haematology, urology, gynaecology, dermatology, pathology, microbiology and parasitology, immunology, wastewater analysis, oncology, entomology, veterinary work, water analysis and breweries. The instrument from manufacturer Kern is especially suited to translucent, thin, low-contrast preparations such as immunofluorescence, FISH and DAPI staining.

Questions about Fluorescence Microscope KERN OBN 141
What is this article?
Fluorescence Microscope KERN OBN 141 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Kern for laboratory use. It sits in Light & fluorescence microscopes, inside Microscopy & histology, in Lab instruments.
A light microscope looks through a thin specimen. A fluorescence microscope adds a light source and filters matched to a dye, so only the labelled structure shows. The filter set has to match the dye's excitation and emission. A bright-field microscope without those filters cannot do that experiment.
A light microscope forms an image with glass lenses and transmitted or reflected light. A stereo microscope is the lower-magnification instrument for dissecting and for looking at a surface. Fluorescence needs a light source and filters matched to the dye. Histology is the preparation that makes a tissue readable: fixation, a cassette, a section, a stain. The objective's magnification and numerical aperture decide the resolution. The slide and the cover glass decide whether the section sits in the focal plane. Stains and dyes as substances are identified on PubChem. Papers on the methods are on PubMed.
