Description

HABITAT photo ferment cct is a control unit package that transforms a HABITAT Research bioreactor into a photobioreactor for light-driven fermentation. Integrated LED light panels supply the controlled illumination required for photofermentation, supporting metabolic pathways used in pharmaceutical synthesis and the production of vitamins and useful metabolites in fermented foods. The compact control tower measures 223 × 402 × 450 mm and, from manufacturer IKA, brings together gas supply, liquid addition, sensor and temperature connections plus a 10,4-inch tablet for clear process operation. Operators choose batch, fed-batch or perfusion/continuous modes; chaotic mixing ensures homogeneous blending when needed. Four individual mass flow controllers meter N2, O2, air and CO2 at 0,1–20 L/min with cascade control that automatically holds target set-points. Four bidirectional Watson-Marlow pumps dose acids, bases, antifoam and nutrients with high accuracy. Standard vessel sensors monitor pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, level and foam; optional CO2, conductivity and turbidity sensors can be added. PID temperature regulation works with single- or double-walled glass vessels and, together with a suitable thermostat, covers 5–80 °C.

This article is part of pH meters, in pH & electrochemistry.

Questions about HABITAT photo ferment cct, Control unit package for photo bioreactor, fermentati

What is this article?

HABITAT photo ferment cct, Control unit package for photo bioreactor, fermentati is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in pH meters, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH meter reads the electrode and displays pH, after calibration with at least two buffers. A meter that cannot be calibrated is a voltmeter. Resolution to 0.001 is not the same as accuracy. Portable and benchtop meters differ in the electrodes they accept and in the data they store.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
