Description

Mobile Leeb hardness tester SAUTER HMO is a portable instrument designed for professional hardness testing with a broad functional scope. An LCD touchscreen supports clear operation, while automatic sensor recognition activates when the impact device is connected. Compared with stationary bench units or instruments with a fixed internal sensor, this model delivers high mobility and flexibility in the field or laboratory. Testing is possible in all directions (360°) once the impact orientation is set on the device. Measured values can be displayed and automatically converted across Rockwell (B and C), Vickers (HV), Brinell (HB), Leeb (HL) and tensile strength (MPa). An internal memory stores up to 500 readings, and a mini-statistics function shows the measured value, average, difference between maximum and minimum, plus date and time. A USB port links to a printer and charges the battery. Supplied with a hardness comparison block and delivered in a robust carrying case from manufacturer Kern, the unit is ready for versatile on-site hardness assessment.

This article is part of pH meters, in pH & electrochemistry.

Questions about Mobile Leeb Hardness Tester SAUTER HMO

What is this article?

Mobile Leeb Hardness Tester SAUTER HMO is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Kern for laboratory use. It sits in pH meters, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH meter reads the electrode and displays pH, after calibration with at least two buffers. A meter that cannot be calibrated is a voltmeter. Resolution to 0.001 is not the same as accuracy. Portable and benchtop meters differ in the electrodes they accept and in the data they store.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
